What data we store

If you create an account we store your email address and an encrypted version of your password. We never see or store your password in plain text.

Your profile may include a display name, an avatar and, if you choose to fill them in, sex and nationality. The last three are optional: the account works the same without them.

We also store the articles and games you save, so we can show them back to you.

If you send us a report through the feedback form, we store your message along with the page you sent it from, your browser and screen size —so we can reproduce the problem— and, if you are signed in, your account. Your IP address is not stored: we keep a code derived from it, used only to prevent automated mass submissions.

What we use them for

So you can log in, recover your password and find what you saved. Nothing else. We do not sell or hand over your data to anyone, nor do we use it for targeted advertising.

Cookies and local storage

We use a session cookie to keep you logged in. It is strictly necessary for login to work: without it there is no way to remember who you are between pages.

We also store your light or dark theme preference in your browser's local storage. That data never leaves your device and we never receive it.

The site keeps a count of the visits each of its pages receives: the front page, game entries, listings and articles. That count is first-party and anonymous: we store only which page was visited, in which language, and when. That record holds no IP address, no account, and no identifier that could single you out.

For that count we also store, in your browser's local storage, the date on which you visited each page: one entry per page, so the same visit is not counted twice within 24 hours. That stays on your device and we never receive it; you can remove it at any time by clearing the site's data in your browser.

Beyond that first-party count we use Google Analytics 4, a measurement service from Google, to know how many people reach the site, where they come from and what they end up reading. For that, Google stores cookies in your browser holding a random identifier: it serves to recognise the same browser across visits, not to know who you are. Google also receives your IP address, from which it infers your country and approximate area, and does not store it.

We look at that data only in aggregate, to decide what to cover and what to improve. We do not cross it with your site account, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell it to anyone.

In the countries covered by the General Data Protection Regulation —the European Union, the rest of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland— this measurement starts switched off and is only turned on if you accept it in the notice shown on arrival. Everywhere else it starts switched on.

Wherever you live, you can change that decision at any time at the foot of this page: it applies immediately and is stored in your browser. Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on and any tracker blocker work too. The site works exactly the same and you lose no features: the first-party page count does not depend on it.

Who else processes them

The database and account system run on Supabase, and the site is hosted on Hostinger. Both act as infrastructure providers and process the data on our behalf in order to deliver the service.

Game images may come from public sources such as Steam or IGDB. Viewing a game page does not transmit any of your data to those services.

Audience measurement is provided by Google through Google Analytics 4, which may process that data on servers in other countries, including the United States. Google receives only what the cookies section describes: never your email, your name, your profile or what you saved.

Deleting your account and data

Email us at hola@wickedquest.net from the address you signed up with and we will delete your account along with everything associated with it. You can also ask for a copy of what we hold about you, or ask us to correct anything that is wrong.

Changes to this policy

If we change anything substantial we will update the date above. This is a project under active development: this page will likely grow as the site adds features.
