Lugh World
About the game
Lugh World is a laid-back creature-collecting MMORPG from Brazilian studio Lughsoft (with GeekZ Studio publishing). Its hook is stitching together three things that rarely share one game: catching and evolving beasts called Lughs, running your own farm, and picking a profession, all inside an open world you share with other players in real time. It isn't chasing the epic scale of a giant theme-park MMO — it goes for a gentler pace, landing somewhere between classic monster-taming and a life-sim.
Catch creatures, farm, and work a trade
You begin in the city of Miranda and head out to capture creatures: there are dozens of base forms, with rarer variants among them — the so-called 'prismatics'. Each Lugh evolves over time and eventually doubles as a land, water, or flying mount, so catching them isn't just collecting: it's how you get around and how you fight. Around all that sit professions, crafting, and cosmetic customization to put your own stamp on both your character and your farm.
Combat is tactical and real-time: each Lugh wields up to eight skills, so building your team and chaining abilities actually matters. The social layer is a genuine pillar: party PvE for up to eight players, guilds, a PvP arena, and cross-server trading. You can take it slow on your own or dive into the co-op and competitive side, depending on what you're in the mood for.
What you pay for — and what you don't
It's a one-time purchase (buy-to-play): you buy it once and play, at a low entry price — it hovered around US$8 at launch, with a 25% release discount, though the figure shifts by region and current promotion. There's no subscription. On top of that up-front cost there is an in-game store with soft currency and cosmetics, random loot boxes, and season passes running US$4 to US$6. One honest caveat: the studio has said the entry price will keep rising as content is added during Early Access. You can check the current price on its Steam page.
Where it stands right now
It launched into Early Access on Steam on April 9, 2026, and the studio estimates 12 to 18 months in that state to polish content, balance, and features. The official roadmap promises more regions, more Lughs, new PvE/PvP modes, more story, and seasonal events. Steam reception is mixed / mostly positive (around 68% across some 440-550 reviews). It's worth being straight about the population: it's small and dropped fast after release — it peaked around 656 concurrent players in the first days and has since sat in the low hundreds, with double-digit troughs at off-peak hours. That's par for the course for a small indie MMO, but it's good to know going in.
Who is it for?
Lugh World will click with anyone who enjoys monster-taming with a cozy streak — farming, professions, collecting and evolving creatures — and doesn't mind a world that's more intimate than massive. If you want a huge MMO with a dense population and months of content ready to go, this isn't that yet: it's in Early Access and still light on content, with a small community and a price set to climb. But if the blend of collecting, homesteading, and low-key co-op at a low entry cost appeals to you, and you don't mind growing alongside a game, it's a charming pick with real identity of its own within the genre.
