About the game

Farever is an online co-op action RPG from Shiro Games, the French studio behind Northgard, Wartales and Dune: Spice Wars. It drops you into Siagarta, a sprawling fantasy open world you can roam solo or in a party: you explore wild landscapes and dungeons, craft your own gear, and fight through dynamic combat that blends ARPG action with light platforming closer to Zelda than to Diablo.

Build freedom above all

The core bet is customization. Each weapon carries its own skill set, so your playstyle comes from what you wield rather than a fixed class. At launch there are four playable classes, but the plan reaches ten, and the full release promises over a hundred weapons. The world scales to party size, so activities hold up just as well alone as with allies; for the big moments there are Rifts, world events that pull up to fifteen players into the same fight.

Where it stands

Farever has been in Early Access on Steam since May 6, 2026, and Shiro expects at least a year of open development before 1.0. Reception is Mostly Positive (around 74% across some 9,000 reviews) — solid but uneven: a strong foundation alongside the rough edges you'd expect from a work in progress. The roadmap is ambitious —new regions and biomes, dungeons, bosses, a higher level cap, mounts, seasonal events and guilds— and it's already delivering: the first major update, The Nightling Invasion (in preview since June 23, 2026), added the Rifts, the city of Ramburg with two new dungeons, and raised the level cap to 25.

Early Access adds regions, dungeons and events with each update.

What you pay for

It's a Buy to Play game: a single purchase (base price $19.99 on Steam, with frequent discounts) grants access to the Early Access build, no subscription and no free trial. The store page lists in-game purchases, though the bulk of the content unlocks through play. One thing to weigh if you're on the fence: Shiro has already signaled the price will rise when the game reaches its full release, so buying in now costs less than waiting for 1.0.

Who it's for

Farever is aimed at players who enjoy an action- and exploration-driven ARPG more than compulsive loot grinding, and especially at groups of friends: party scaling makes co-op the natural way to experience it, without punishing anyone who'd rather go solo. If you want a game that's finished and polished end to end, Early Access isn't that yet: content is finite, some systems are half-built, and the edges are rough. But if getting in early on a world that grows update by update appeals to you —and you trust Shiro Games' track record— it's a reasonable, and cheap, bet worth following closely. For now it's PC only (Windows 10 or later).
