About the game

Dream of Mirror Online is a free-to-play, anime-styled MMORPG rooted in Chinese mythology. Softstar built it in Taiwan in 2005; Suba Games runs the Western version today, with a free client on Steam since 2015. Its signature is how much of it runs on other people: the game assumes you are not playing alone.

Dream of Mirror Online still wears the anime look and Chinese-inspired scenery of its original build.

Thirteen jobs and free flight

The job system is the other pillar. There are thirteen professions and you swap between them at will, from Blademaster, Wizard or Hunter to Doctor, Musician, Dancer and Merchant. Each one brings its own gathering and crafting, and most of what changes hands between players starts there.

Free flight unlocks at level 15, lifted from the legends of immortals riding their swords, and at level 61 pets become mounts. The relationship system (friends, master-student, couples) hands out real bonuses, so going solo is always the slow road.

Long progression and tab-target combat: the game doesn't hide its age.

Free to play, one server

There is no box price and no subscription. You grab the client from Steam or from Suba Games' site, and the item mall carries the whole thing: cosmetics, mounts, pets, convenience consumables. The original Taiwanese release charged monthly, none of the surviving versions do, and Suba publishes no price list.

The game lives on a single server, Pandora, with Tuesday maintenance, and the level cap has sat at 80 since November 2023. The official news page has been quiet since March 2025, though patches kept landing: November 2025 added the Gallant advanced job (Fencer 70 plus Martial Artist 70), and a patch planned for May 2026 slipped over bugs.

No official population numbers exist. The only public gauge is Steam, where reviews sit at Mixed, 59% positive out of 558. Support runs through tickets on Suba's site and through the game's Discord, where GMs show up.

Who it's for

This is a 2005 game and it shows: plain tab-target combat, a dated interface, a long grind. It earns its place if you want a slow MMO where crafting and conversation matter as much as farming, on a server small enough that people recognize each other. If you want modern combat, structured endgame or a steady patch cadence, look elsewhere.
