Girls' Frontline 2: Exilium

Girls' Frontline 2: Exilium is the sequel to MICA Team's mobile game Girls' Frontline, and the big change is the board itself. The original's 2D maps gave way to turn-based tactical combat on 3D terrain with cover, elevation and destructible pieces. XCOM is the obvious reference point. It is single-player only.

You run a squad of Dolls, combat androids, working as a bounty hunter across a world wrecked by contaminated zones. Outside the campaign there are story events with start and end dates, replayable modes like Gunsmoke Frontline and the simulation exercises, and a base where Dolls gain levels and affinity and weapons get customised.

The game is free on Steam, Android and iOS, with no entry price and no mandatory subscription. Money comes in through the gacha — a 0.6% rate for SSR Dolls and 6% for SR, with guaranteed pity inside the 50 pulls of the beginner banner — and a monthly card at roughly $5.

On top of that sit a 60-level battle pass with paid tiers at about $10 and $20, premium currency packs and discounted cosmetic outfits every patch. The main campaign clears without spending; the squeeze shows up in high-difficulty content and in the signature Elite weapons that ship with each new character.

It launched in China in December 2023, worldwide a year later and on PC in February 2025, and it is still actively supported. A patch lands about every three weeks with a new Doll, her banner, reruns and activities that unlock in stages. Notes and schedules go up on the official site.

Most of the player base is on mobile, and the studio publishes no active-player figures. On PC the numbers are small: the Steam peak was 3,665 concurrent players in November 2025, down to around 400 by early 2026. Reviews there settled at Mixed, 54% positive across 3,349.

It fits anyone who wants light turn-based tactics with a character collection and doesn't mind playing alone; the art and animation draw the least criticism of anything here. Coming from the 2D original, or having no patience for the pacing the gacha imposes, is the other half of that Mixed rating.
