About the game

Limbus Company is Project Moon's turn-based gacha RPG, set in the same world as Lobotomy Corporation and Library of Ruina: the City, a dystopia of twenty-six districts carved up among corporations. You run a tiny firm and its twelve Sinners, characters built on classic novels from Moby-Dick to Crime and Punishment, aboard the bus Mephistopheles and chasing the Golden Boughs.

Fights are not settled by raw damage. Every skill rolls a set of coins, and when two attacks meet, the higher roll wins the clash and cancels the other. Each Sinner's Sanity shifts those odds, so a turn is mostly about picking which exchanges to take and which to sidestep. Team building runs through Identities and E.G.O., alternate versions of each Sinner with their own roles and skill sets.

The twelve Sinners travel aboard the bus Mephistopheles.

What you pay for

The game is free on Steam, Android and iOS, with no entry price and no subscription. The gacha is called Extraction and runs on Lunacy: 130 for a single pull, 1,300 for a ten-pull, with pity at 200, which hands you Ideality to redeem the exact Identity or E.G.O. you wanted. Each banner also carries a heavily discounted daily pull, and the Dispenser sells Identities and E.G.O. for Egoshards, a currency you farm by playing.

The gacha is not the main revenue source; the seasonal Battle Pass is, and it hands back enough currency to keep a free player going for the long haul. In November 2024, at the studio's eighth anniversary, director Kim Ji-hoon announced a monetization overhaul to fund other projects: the pass stopped being sold directly and had to be bought through Lunacy bundles, an effective jump from roughly $11 to about $16. That change drew the loudest complaints on the Steam forums. There is no stamina system and no paid progression walls.

Where it stands

It is a single-player game on a live-service calendar: seasons that run several months, one story chapter (a Canto) per season, and the Mirror Dungeon as repeatable content. Season 7, Kumo no ito • oti on akA, opened on December 31, 2025 with Canto IX: The Unsevering, Ryōshū's chapter, released in three parts across the following two weeks.

Season 8, STÚDĪUM PUNCTUM, starts on September 17, 2026 with Canto X: The Gaze Bearing, Meursault's chapter, built on The Stranger, plus the eighth Mirror Dungeon. The roadmap the director laid out on stream pointed to August, so the date slipped by nearly a month. That same roadmap covers Refraction Railway Line 6 as endgame content, the eighth and ninth Walpurgisnacht, a two-part Canto 9.5, and a batch of quality-of-life work: drag-and-drop Sinner deployment, multi-battle farming, and more loadout slots with presets.

Each season adds a new Canto and another version of the Mirror Dungeon.

Who it's for

Limbus Company works for players who come for the writing and the system: there is a lot to read, and coins, Sanity and affinities have to click before combat stops looking like luck. The support is there: 92% positive Steam reviews out of more than 49,000 in English, 90% on recent ones, and a patch every two weeks. The complaints repeat too: the interface is clumsy, Mirror Dungeon grinding wears thin, and the pass costs more than it used to. Anyone after multiplayer or direct action is in the wrong game.
