Loftia
About the game
Loftia is a cozy MMO from Australian studio Qloud Games, set in a solarpunk world of floating islands. There's no combat and no levels: you farm, craft, build and decorate. Progress comes from raising your own island and from what you build alongside your neighbors, not from an experience bar.
Farming runs on hydroponics, aquaponics and trellis growing, and tools are powered by solar, wind and rain energy. The ecological angle isn't set dressing: it shapes the mechanics and determines what you can produce and with what.
Each island connects to other players' islands to form neighborhoods, and community projects keep growing the shared world. Away from home there are biomes to explore, abandoned factories, puzzles and quests you can take solo or in a group, plus adoptable animals (capybaras included) and deep character and home customization.
What you pay for
Buy to play: you pay once and get access to all playable content, per the official FAQ. There's no subscription, and the announced microtransactions are cosmetic only; the studio ruled out free to play and any pay-to-win mechanics. The price isn't confirmed: the only public reference point is the $30 tier from the 2023 Kickstarter, which included a game key.
Where it stands today
The game is in development. Early Access arrives in fall 2026 on Steam and the Epic Games Store, with Nintendo Switch later and no exact date announced. The closed beta ran from April 22 to May 6, 2026 and drew 24,648 participants and 268,769 hours played.
With that feedback in hand, Qloud said it's polishing performance, multiplayer systems, hydroponics and pets before launch. Loftia is aimed at players who want a social farm without pressure, not at anyone looking for an MMO with progression. Plenty is still unknown: no confirmed price, no population figures outside the beta, no roadmap past Early Access. It also requires a permanent connection, with no offline mode on any platform.
