About the game

EVE Echoes is EVE Online in your pocket. NetEase built it alongside CCP Games in an alternate version of New Eden, with thousands of star systems, one shared universe and an economy players run themselves. It launched on iOS and Android on August 13, 2020, and it runs on a single server per region, so everyone shares the same space.

A universe nobody organizes for you

There is no campaign pointing the way and no objective list waiting for you. You decide how you make a living: mining, manufacturing and reselling on the market, exploring, or fighting over sovereignty in null-sec. Ships you lose are gone for good, and that one rule is what gives every undock its weight.

The phone adaptation changes how you live with the game, not how big it is. Travel and combat keep running with the app in the background and skill queues advance while you are away, so a long career survives on short daily sessions. Much of the rest happens in corporation chat.

New Eden's shared universe, rebuilt for a phone screen.

What you pay for and what you don't

The free account is the Alpha clone, capped on skill points per minute and limited in which ships and skills it can touch. The Omega subscription lifts those caps and comes in three flavors; community guides put the basic tier at roughly $4.99 a month for an extra 5 SP/minute and the standard tier at $12.99 for 25.

The pivot of the model is PLEX: you buy it on the market with ISK, so an active player can bankroll basic Omega without spending real money. There is also an in-game store with clone upgrades, boosters and cosmetics, and the complaint the game has carried since launch is that a tiered subscription plus microtransactions push it toward pay-to-win. NetEase publishes no revenue or conversion numbers.

Markets, industry and war are all held up by the players themselves.

Where the game stands today

It remains Live and under continuous maintenance: the official site posts patch notes full of hotfixes and service windows, an operations cadence rather than a content one. The November 2024 roadmap promised more content with almost no dates attached. The structural change that did land came in January 2025: a 10,000-member cap per alliance, rising fees past five corporations, and a 180-day wait before founding another.

NetEase releases no population figures, so the stores are the only public gauge: 3.5/5 on Google Play across more than 30,000 ratings and 3.7/5 on the App Store across more than 2,000. The game rewards anyone after a long-horizon MMO who can live with nobody telling them what to do in it. Without an active corporation behind you, the universe feels vast and empty, and that is the most common reason people quit.
