About the game

Soul Land: Hunting World is the first 3D open-world MMORPG set in Douluo Dalu, the Tang Jia San Shao novel that later became one of China's most-watched animated series. 37GAMES develops and publishes it under a double license covering both the book and the anime. In the West it launched under a different name: Soul Land: Awakening World.

You play a spirit master. Progression runs on hunting Spirimon, the source material's spirit beasts, to earn spirit rings, and on swapping between several martial souls inside a single fight. Combat is action-based with no tab targeting: dodges, aerial combos and spirit weapons switched on the fly, on foot through regions the show already made familiar, from the Great Star Dou Forest to Slaughter City.

The open world covers locations the series already made familiar.

What it costs to play

Getting in costs nothing on any of the three platforms, and no subscription has been announced. All the spending lives in the in-game shop: packs, progression boosts and convenience items that unlock in bulk as you advance. That's the point negative Steam reviews keep returning to, with several players calling it pay to win outright because high-level gear can be bought very early; one reviewer reports $40 spent in his first two hours.

37GAMES doesn't publish revenue figures, but market reports cited by Chinese equity analysts put earnings at roughly $4.64 million on the Chinese App Store alone through August 15, 2025, with a single-day peak of $323,467 on July 20.

Where it stands now

The game is live and running. The Chinese version opened on July 11, 2025, after clearing 10 million pre-registrations, and has already been through update 1.1. The global build arrived on June 1, 2026 across Steam, Android and iOS at once, with a single account shared between PC and mobile.

Action combat swaps martial souls inside a single fight.

Reception is lukewarm. Steam reviews sit at Mixed: 47% positive out of roughly 365, and recent ones are split the same way. There are no specialist press reviews to lean on (Metacritic shows a tbd Metascore and zero critic reviews), no roadmap published in English and no public population numbers, so there's no way to gauge from outside how many people are playing today.

Who it's for

It works for anyone coming from the anime or the novel who wants to walk those places in 3D, and for anyone after an action MMO that runs the same on phone and PC with no entry fee. It doesn't work for anyone who needs gear to be earned by playing: the shop is in your face early on and splits the game's own playerbase. There's no public roadmap either, so those hundred hours go in blind.
