About the game

Throne and Liberty showed up in the west in 2024 with a clear promise: revive the massive-guild, territory-war MMORPG without charging a cent to play. NCSOFT brought years of experience building huge-scale Korean MMOs, and poured it into a world designed from the ground up so faction conflict never really stops.

What it is

It's a free-to-play MMORPG developed by NCSOFT and FirstSpark, published in the west by Amazon Games. It blends the genre's classic building blocks -open world, flexible classes, dungeons, gear progression- with more modern systems, like shapeshifting into creatures to explore or fight in different ways, a day/night cycle that actually changes the map, and large-scale guild wars fought over territory control.

Guild wars fought over territory control sit at the heart of Throne and Liberty.

Current state

The game is still in its early western rollout since 2024 and gets frequent content updates: new zones, seasonal events, balance passes, and a steadily expanding endgame. Being free-to-play, NCSOFT and Amazon Games keep iterating on the economy and progression systems based on community feedback, which is typical of an MMO still in its first stretch of life outside Asia.

Why play it

It's for anyone who misses big-guild MMORPGs, territory wars, and that feeling that your server has its own history. You don't need to spend a cent to access most of the content, which makes it a low-risk way to find out if massive-scale MMOs still hook you.

We'll keep covering every Throne and Liberty update here at WickedQuest, so keep an eye out for the next round of guild wars.
