Fallout 76 launches The Slasher and its first Legacy Season on September 15

Bethesda has dated The Slasher: the free Fallout 76 update lands September 15, and it brings Legacy Seasons, a system that lets you run an old season alongside the current one. First one back is Armor Ace and the Power Patrol in Cold Steel, from 2020.

There's no new currency. The legacy season and the current one, Beware of the Blood Moon, draw from the same ticket pool, and you decide where to spend. Legacy rewards unlock in order, anything you already earned counts as claimed, and there are new pieces mixed in; the original season boards stay retired.

The Slasher isn't a one-day event either. Bethesda is rolling it out in phases across the fall: hunting for clues, digging up unmarked graves and fighting off the fanatics spreading over the map, up to a final run-in with the "Pint-Sized" imposter. That fight is where the unique power armor set and a new weapon, the Super Slasher, come from.

The patch reaches older ground too: legendary mods become craftable at the workbench on more than 80 uniquely named weapons, and a technical pass improves performance, stability and visual fidelity on PS5, Xbox Series S/X and last-gen consoles.

With Raven Rock not due until 2027, seasons carry the rest of the year. The second Legacy Season is up to players: voting runs through August 21 and the winner is announced on the 25th, for the winter update.
