FFXIV's Moonfire Faire Returns to Costa del Sol on August 12

Final Fantasy XIV's summer festival runs from August 12 to 26, with a new mount headlining the rewards. One quest and level 30 is all it takes to join.
Eorzea's summer has a date again. The Moonfire Faire, the seasonal festival in Final Fantasy XIV, kicks off on August 12 and sticks around for two weeks: fireworks over the night sky, decorations lining the streets, and the beaches of Costa del Sol turned into the center of the party once more. It's the same yearly ritual, and that's rather the point.
Exactly two weeks
The window runs from Wednesday, August 12 at 8:00 GMT (1:00 a.m. PDT / 18:00 AEST) through Wednesday, August 26 at 14:59 GMT (7:59 a.m. PDT). The usual seasonal rule applies: the quests can't be completed once the event ends, so whatever you leave on the table stays there until next year's run.
How to take part
All it takes is talking to Mayaru Moyaru in Limsa Lominsa, Upper Decks (X:11.5 Y:13.8) and picking up the quest "Earning Your Water Wings." The only requirement is a job at level 30 or higher — a deliberately low bar that anyone past the opening hours of A Realm Reborn clears without trouble.
What's on the reward table
The centerpiece this year is a new mount, backed by the usual batch of summer-themed items. And for anyone who skipped a year: the Moonfire Faire vendors stock items from previous iterations, so you can fill in the old wardrobe while earning the new one. The full breakdown is on the official event page.
None of this moves the needle on the main story or endgame content, and it isn't trying to. The Moonfire Faire is the breather between patches: a couple of light evenings, cosmetics you keep forever, and a fair excuse to log back in if your character has been gathering dust. Veterans who've done it five times know exactly what they're getting; newer players have the cheapest mount they'll add to the stable all year.
