World of Warcraft Jumps to the Tabletop: D&D Confirms Its Official Campaign for November

At Gen Con 2026, Dungeons & Dragons made official a full World of Warcraft book built with Blizzard. It arrives November 17 as the first title in the Universes Beyond initiative, bringing Azeroth back to the tabletop after two decades.
The leak was real: Dungeons & Dragons is getting an official book set entirely in World of Warcraft. The reveal landed at Gen Con 2026, and it isn't a minor nod or a one-off collectible but a tabletop campaign built together with Blizzard that brings Azeroth back to pen-and-paper roleplaying for the first time in two decades. For the community that follows the biggest MMO in our catalog, it's a serious brand expansion: the world many of them come from can now be played around a table, too.
What it actually is
D&D: World of Warcraft is the first title in Universes Beyond, the new line through which Dungeons & Dragons starts crossing over with other brands. It's a full campaign book: it gives a group and its Dungeon Master everything they need to run adventures in Azeroth using D&D's rules, rather than just dropping a couple of Warcraft-flavored monsters into a generic setting. The direct collaboration with Blizzard is what sets it apart from an unofficial tribute.
Everything inside
The book adapts World of Warcraft's thirteen classes to the tabletop through dedicated subclasses, and adds species options to recreate almost any character you've already built in the game. On top of that comes a generous amount of ready-to-use content: 26 magic items (Artifacts included), over 60 spells, more than 50 monster stat blocks and 23 factions to join.
For the Dungeon Master, the tastiest part is the seven iconic dungeons rebuilt for tabletop play, each with encounters worthy of the name, plus a total of 30 World of Warcraft bosses with full stat blocks. The book clearly aims to be the backbone of a long campaign, not a one-shot.
Date, early access and editions
It launches November 17, 2026, with early access starting November 3, and it anchors D&D's Season of Champions. It'll be available in physical shops and digitally through the hobby's usual services. Pre-orders include in-game World of Warcraft extras —a Black Dragon Mount, the Gazer pet and Mimic Chest items— and there's a limited-run Collector's Edition with a special slipcase, the Icecrown Citadel map pack and digital adventure, a Dungeon Master's Screen and a promotional Murloc mini. All the official details are in Blizzard's announcement.
Universes Beyond doesn't stop at Azeroth
World of Warcraft is only the starting point. In the same presentation, Dungeons & Dragons confirmed that Universes Beyond will also bring Star Wars to the tabletop in 2027, alongside renewed attention to its own settings like Dark Sun. For those of us glued to the MMO, the headline stays the same: the world of Warcraft is coming back to tabletop roleplaying with Blizzard's official backing —and this time with a book meant to actually be played, not just shelved.
