Diablo IV Season 15 fast-tracks mythics and lets you bring your old characters along

Blizzard is opening the 3.2.0 PTR that becomes the base for Diablo IV Season 15, and it reshuffles mythic rarity again: earlier access to the rarest items, a Rebirth to move eternal characters into the season, and nine legacy uniques from the classic games.

Blizzard has posted the 3.2.0 PTR notes for Diablo IV, the test realm that will form the base for Season 15, and the focus is once again on mythic rarity. The underlying idea is that you shouldn't have to reach the very end of the grind to touch the most coveted items: the season wants them on the table far earlier. All the detail lives in the official announcement.

Mythics, within reach much sooner

The big shift is that iconic mythics now have unique versions that show up far earlier, albeit in powered-down forms. It's a clear nudge to make early progression feel less barren, and to let players who don't live inside the game still put together something mythic without waiting weeks.

Crafting changes too. The Horadric Cube upgrade now converts items straight into their mythic version, without the old random factors, but it stamps a crafted tag: only one piece with that mark is allowed per outfit, so you can't brute-force your whole kit. Alongside it, Jeweler's Rune Crafting combines Resplendent Sparks and runes into random, class-specific mythic uniques, and those don't carry the crafted tag.

Rebirth: your eternal characters join the season

Rebirth returns, the feature that converts eternal-realm characters into seasonal ones while keeping name, appearance and cosmetics, though it resets the level to 1. It's a concession for anyone with affection (or hours) invested in an old character who didn't want to roll another from scratch. On top of that come nine legacy uniques debuting in Diablo IV from Diablo, Diablo 2 and Diablo 3, sixteen new unique charms, and mythic charm variants that, for now, only drop by luck: there's no way to craft them.

New things to go hunting for

Beyond loot, the season also touches exploration. Soul Splinters are eight socketable varieties spread across five rarities (stopping short of mythic) that grant stats, resistances and signature effects. Challenge dungeons appear as random portals in the overworld, with bosses and a difficulty that can climb up to three torment tiers higher. And during normal exploration, ambushes pop up: demon encounters with a 30-second warning to decide whether to fight or flee.

The PTR runs August 4-11, 2026 (10am PT), Battle.net launcher only, with a manual build switch. As always with a test realm, none of this is final: these are notes to poke at and discuss before the season truly ships, and Blizzard flagged that it's saving more announcements for BlizzCon. If you rotate from one ARPG to the next, it's worth marking the window and seeing first-hand whether earlier mythics feel good or cheapen the endgame.
