Diablo IV drags through a week of complaints over mythic item drop rates

The "Death Awakening" season promised something else, but the low drop rate of the coveted mythic items has the community fired up. Blizzard says it's working on a fix.

Diablo IV's current season, dubbed Death Awakening, has been defined less by its content and more by a controversy: mythic items —the game's most iconic and sought-after drops— barely appear. For a week now, complaints about the drop rates haven't let up.

Blizzard's response

Blizzard has acknowledged the issue and keeps repeating that a solution is in the works. In an ARPG where loot hunting is the core loop, a mythic drop rate perceived as too stingy hits exactly where it hurts most, and explains why the outcry escalated so fast.

In a looter, the drop rate of the best items is a sensitive subject.
