About the game

Corepunk is an open-world MMORPG with an isometric camera and fog of war, developed by the studio Artificial Core. Its defining trait isn't a single mechanic but the blend: it takes the persistence and endgame of an MMORPG, the skill-based combat and top-down view of a MOBA, and the loot chase of an ARPG, all inside a seamless world that mixes fantasy, science fiction and a strong cyberpunk streak. It's a formula almost nobody else is attempting, and that rarity is both its biggest draw and its biggest risk.

The blend that sets it apart

The first thing you notice is the fog of war: the map starts covered and you're the one who reveals it on foot, uncovering paths, monster camps and secrets as you go. That deliberate exploration gives Corepunk a different rhythm from the compass-led MMORPG that holds your hand. On top of that foundation there are six classes with eighteen specializations, gathering and crafting professions, dungeons, battlegrounds, arenas, ranked seasons and guild wars. Combat is tactical and skill-based, closer to a MOBA than to classic tab-target, rewarding positioning and timing as much as gear.

Corepunk's world blends fantasy, science fiction and cyberpunk aesthetics under an isometric camera.

Current state: a game that rebooted itself

Corepunk has been in Early Access since late 2024, PC-only and off Steam: you download and play it through the official launcher, with no free trial. In June 2026 the studio ran 'The Great Reset', a full wipe that reset progress and economy and effectively relaunched the game almost from scratch. That reboot added the first twelve-player raid, a fresh economy, deep reworks to classes, trading and combat, and an unusual twist: an AI-driven antagonist 'game master' and personal assistant. In short, it's a game still very much under construction and one that reshapes itself often.

It's worth going in with realistic expectations. The population is low and carries long-standing complaints about empty cities and technical issues, and in early 2026 Artificial Core went through layoffs tied to funding cuts, though it says it is recovering its cash flow. The 1.0 launch is planned for late 2026, so what you're buying today is a work in progress, not a finished product.

After 2026's 'The Great Reset', Corepunk added raids, a new economy and AI-driven systems.

What you pay for and what you don't

The model is buy-to-play: you pay once and play with no subscription. During Early Access it sells in four editions —Standard, Deluxe, Ultimate and Ultimate Plus— whose differences are mostly cosmetic and founder rewards, roughly in the €33–€63 range. On top of that there are battle passes and an in-game store that, per the studio, sells cosmetics only. The honest caveat: Corepunk insists it isn't pay-to-win, but it once drew controversy by introducing gear packs with an in-game advantage, a stumble that hurt part of the community's trust and is worth keeping in mind when weighing its promises.

Who is it for?

Corepunk is for players who enjoy exploring without being led by the hand and who are drawn to combat more tactical than the average MMORPG's, especially if the MMO-meets-MOBA-meets-ARPG blend sounds like something that was missing. It's also for the patient player who doesn't mind the unstable nature of Early Access and gets a kick out of watching a project grow patch by patch. If instead you want a populated world, a polished and finished game, or any guarantee the formula will click, now isn't your moment: better to add it to your watchlist and check back closer to 1.0. It's a bet with a clear identity and a future that's still wide open.
