The Helldivers 2 x Warhammer 40,000 Warbond drops August 12

After tease upon tease, Helldivers 2's most anticipated crossover finally has a date. On August 12 the HELLDIVERS™ 2 x Warhammer 40,000: Castellan's Creed Legendary Warbond arrives, a bundle of weapons, stratagems, armor and cosmetics inspired by one of the Astra Militarum's most iconic regiments: the Imperial Guard's Cadian Kasrkin. For a game that already runs on dispensing Managed Democracy by the shotgun blast, the grimdark aesthetic of the Warhammer 40,000 universe fits almost too naturally. Super Earth's satirical tone and the Guard's imperial fanaticism speak the same language, and the Warbond leans right into the joke.

The centerpiece is three weapons any fan of the franchise will recognize at a glance. The R/40-K Hot-Shot Marksman Rifle is a precision primary, deadly up close and deadlier at range; the P/40-K Bolt Pistol serves as a raw-stopping-power sidearm; and the 40-K Meltagun, as a stratagem, fires a short-range thermal beam capable of melting steel. Rounding it out is the G/40-K Meltamine, a proximity mine said to burn "brighter than the sun" and that —fair warning— is just as dangerous to friend as to foe.

On the protection side come two Imperial Guard sets. The TG-8 Sharpshooter is medium armor and the TG-122 Demo-Trooper is heavy; both share the True Grit passive (+20 weapon handling and +30% reload speed for support weapons). Rounding out the Warbond are capes, player cards, a Castellan's Green pattern and the Still Standing title.

Like every Warbond, it's premium content: it requires the base game, Super Credits and progression to unlock. One important detail for token hoarders: it can't be claimed with a Premium Warbond token, so you'll have to spend credits.

The crossover is exactly the kind of co-op content that gets the Helldivers 2 community moving, and it lands after a long drip of teasers that had players waiting on confirmation. Now there's a date on the calendar: August 12 it deploys to your Super Destroyer.
