Helldivers 2 opens the Void front: Devoid of Liberty is live

Helldivers 2's 7.0.0 update is out on PC, PS5 and Xbox: new missions on the road to the Void, two mutated Illuminate enemies and SEAF troopers dropping in to fight alongside your squad. The level 300 cap ships with it.

Devoid of Liberty, Helldivers 2's 7.0.0 update, is out now on PC, PS5 and Xbox, and it points the war at a new frontier: the Void. High Command wants recon runs first, because the planets within its reach have mutated, and the closer they sit to the Void itself, the stranger they get.

The new objectives send squads to destroy Illuminate spires and gateways, run data reconnaissance and infiltrate enemy structures. One of the new secondaries is plainly useful: opening a second extraction zone on the map so the team can get out faster.

Two new enemies crawl out of the Void. The Wretch is fast, dodges counter-attacks and leaps in to strip your weapons; The Crusher soaks heavy damage and regenerates the moment you stop shooting, so it has to go down without a pause.

The other headline change is how a mission feels moment to moment. SEAF troops now show up as a planet modifier, dropping in with new gear (stim pistols, heavy machine guns), reworked behaviour and updated visuals. They heal you with stims, destroy enemy spawners, and they'll take a salute, a handshake or a hug.

The jump to level 300 Arrowhead detailed last week ships inside this patch: 15 ranks above 150, each with its own title and icon. The Castellan's Creed Legendary Warbond, the Warhammer 40,000 crossover, lands today, on the date it was promised.

On the balance side, assisted reload no longer demands choreography: either the wielder or the helper needs the right backpack, not both. The rest of the changes are in the patch notes.
