WoW Midnight: Season 1 Is Closing Soon and Many Rewards Are About to Vanish

Blizzard made it official: Midnight Season 1 is about to close in World of Warcraft retail, and with it go many achievements, mounts, titles, and rewards that will stop being obtainable —or become a lot harder to earn— once Season 2 begins. They confirmed it in an official post with a blunt message: the clock is ticking. If you've been playing this season, it's time to make a list and knock out your loose ends.

The announcement doesn't come with a firm date: Blizzard only says Season 2 is on the horizon and that you should hurry. The community expects the cutoff to land with Patch 12.1, which rumors place around August 11, but that isn't confirmed yet. Translation: you don't know exactly how many days you have left, so don't leave it for the last minute.

The season's raid difficulty achievements turn into Feats of Strength —meaning they get locked as earned-at-the-time and can no longer be obtained afterward—. The housing decor trophies that drop from final bosses depending on difficulty are going away too. If you were missing that Cutting Edge or a specific decor piece for your house, this is your window.

In Mythic+, the achievements tied to seasonal rating (the various rating tiers) are saying goodbye, along with the Carrion mounts tied to hitting a certain score and the resilient keystone achievements. The dungeon titles and the teleports for clearing each dungeon at a high level are seasonal too. None of this carries over: once rating resets for Season 2, whatever you didn't finish is left behind.

Seasonal PvP is, as always, one of the areas most punished by the clock. The Vicious Snaplizard mount —which comes in Alliance and Horde versions with faction-colored armor— is going away with its rating requirement, along with the Gladiator mounts and the rank titles. The most coveted: Hero of the Alliance / Hero of the Horde, reserved for the top 0.5% of the rated battleground ladder. These are the rewards that truly never come back: they're the stamp of this season.

Blizzard's advice is simple: make your final push. If you have Mythic+ or PvP rating goals pending, put those at the top of the list —they depend on the ladder and on other players' time. After that, the raid Feats of Strength and any decor you're missing. Go through your seasonal achievements calmly, gather your group, and close out what you can before Season 2 arrives.
