FFXIV turns 13: The Rising comes back on August 27

Final Fantasy XIV's anniversary event runs from August 27 to September 10, handing out a wind-up Wuk Lamat minion and three orchestrion rolls, including Zanarkand from Final Fantasy X.

Final Fantasy XIV brings back The Rising, its anniversary event, on August 27. That's the day the game turns 13 counting from the A Realm Reborn relaunch, and the celebration stays up until September 10 at 7:59 a.m. PDT.

The way in hasn't changed: talk to the Wandering Minstrel in Limsa Lominsa, Upper Decks (X:11.0, Y:12.8), with a class at level 15 or higher. This year's quest is The Symphony of Life, and it carries the tagline "What awaits us at journey's end?".

The headline reward is a wind-up Wuk Lamat minion, backed by three orchestrion rolls: Matoya's Cave (Modulation), Eternal Wind (Modulation) and Zanarkand (Modulation), the Final Fantasy X track that wasn't obtainable in game until now. Square Enix didn't spell out the rest of the items in the announcement.

The Rising started over a decade ago as a moment to mourn the Calamity, and over the years it shifted toward where the adventurers are now. The practical bit: items from past editions go back on sale with the event vendor, so these two weeks are also a chance to fill in the years you skipped. Full details are on the official event page.
