Lost Ark is folding twelve western servers into five: the schedule and the fine print

Amazon Games kicks off the merge that leaves Lost Ark with five western servers instead of twelve on August 26. What merges into what, how combined rosters are handled, and what to sort out before the date.
Amazon Games has confirmed the biggest server consolidation Lost Ark has ever run in the West: twelve servers become five between August 26 and September 2. The squeeze hits NA East and EU Central separately, and it is not a background chore — if you keep characters on one of the worlds that is going away, there are things you want to sort out before the lights go out.
What merges into what
The move happens in two waves. The first one, on August 26, folds Nineveh into Balthorr, Luterra into Vairgrys and Brelshaza into Thaemine on NA East. On EU Central, that same day Ortuus goes to Arcturus and Ratik to Elpon.
The second one, on September 2, finishes the job: Balthorr — Nineveh already inside it — merges into Inanna, while Gienah joins the enlarged Arcturus. When the dust settles, the western map reads Inanna, Vairgrys and Thaemine on NA East and Elpon and Arcturus on EU Central. The servers involved in each wave will be down for maintenance; Amazon says exact windows will be posted closer to each date in the official notice.
What happens to your roster
If all your characters live on just one of the affected servers, the move is close to automatic: log into the new world and carry on. The tricky case is having a roster on both worlds being joined, because progress then gets combined under per-category rules — the highest value wins, or values are summed, unioned or reset, depending on the specific data point. Every character moves to Universal Character Storage, and your main becomes whichever character has the highest item level across both rosters, like it or not.
The rest of the fine print: character slots reset and any purchased expansions come back as tickets; currencies — Royal Crystals, gold and the rest — are summed, with anything over the cap pushed to storage; duplicate pets survive, but repeated mounts are deduplicated with a refund; in the stronghold, structures are added together and the excess is discarded. Two smaller details are easy to miss too: Bifrost saved locations reset, and character chronicle snapshots are rebuilt on your first login.
Your to-do list before the 26th
There is one hard deadline: August 19 is the last day to claim rewards from the express events shutting down ahead of the merge. Beyond that, wrap up your Ark Pass and collect its rewards, pull the experience banked in the Training Camp, spend your card XP and — most important of all — empty your Auction House listings and cancel any Currency Exchange registrations. Anything still listed gets cancelled automatically and mailed back to you, but with a 30-day claim window: miss it and it's gone.
Fewer worlds, more people in them
A consolidation this size is never good news on its own — it means there was too much capacity to fill — but in practice it's what Lost Ark in the West has needed for a while. Concentrating the population fixes exactly what breaks when a server empties out: finding a raid group without leaning on your friends list, a marketplace with real supply and saner prices, and open-world content that feels inhabited again.
The cost is part sentimental, part logistical: world names people genuinely identify with disappear, and anyone playing across two servers is in for a cleanup session once their rosters are stitched together. Take the checklist seriously — August 26 is less than a month out, and most of these tasks cannot be done after the fact.
