Persist Online: over 3,000 deaths across a two-week pre-alpha test

Cipsoft, the studio behind Tibia, shared an infographic from its zombie MMO Persist Online: in just two weeks of closed testing, the death toll topped 3,000.
Zombie survival MMO Persist Online wrapped up a two-week pre-alpha test in early July, and its studio, Cipsoft, recapped it with an infographic. The headline figure: over 3,000 player deaths while fending off the undead. In a game that makes fragility its calling card, that number says as much about the challenge as about the appetite of everyone who signed up to test it.
Behind Persist Online is Cipsoft, the same studio that has kept Tibia running since 1997. The pitch is an old-school MMORPG in a post-apocalyptic open world: no spells, just firearms and melee, with a PvPvE streak where every ally helps and every run-in with another player has you fearing for your loot. It's still wishlist-only on Steam, with Early Access undated for now.
Take it for what it is: a stats snapshot from a closed test, not a content drop or a release date. Even so, the pulse of these pre-alphas —Cipsoft has been stringing tests together throughout 2026— is a decent way to gauge whether the project is catching on. Persist Online isn't in our database yet, but it's one to keep on the radar.
