Path of Exile reveals Curse of the Allflame: a new undersea league on July 24

The July expansion adds a new challenge league, reworks Abyss and Legion, brings back the Mercenaries of Trarthus, and introduces colorless skill gem sockets.

At its GGG Live stream, Grinding Gear Games unveiled the next big Path of Exile update: Curse of the Allflame, the July expansion launching on July 24 (PDT). The theme is aquatic —sunken artefacts and horrors of the deep— but what will really move the needle is everything arriving below the surface.

What's inside

On top of the new challenge league, the update brings significant improvements to the Abyss and Legion systems, the return of the Mercenaries of Trarthus, and something the community has long asked for: colorless skill gem sockets, which loosen one of the game's historic build-crafting constraints.

Curse of the Allflame takes the action to the depths of Wraeclast.

As usual in Path of Exile, the league resets the economy and gives the community a reason to start fresh. Full details and the official announcement are in Grinding Gear Games' Steam post; coverage of the reveal also ran on Massively OP.
