Curse of the Allflame brings the quality-of-life pass Path of Exile has owed players for leagues

Days before 3.29 goes live, Grinding Gear Games put out a video walking through the quality-of-life work in Curse of the Allflame: immunity while channelling Verisium Ore, a crafting bench in every town from Act 2 onward, and a real inventory window for the Animate Guardian.
With Curse of the Allflame only days away, Grinding Gear Games dropped an announcement dedicated purely to the quality-of-life work landing in Path of Exile 1's 3.29 patch. No league mechanic, no new skills — just the list of friction points the studio decided to clear out. Several of them have been on the community's wishlist for leagues.
The official post puts it plainly: "from protection while channelling Verisium Ore to Animate Guardian's inventory and Crafting Bench in every town, you're sure to find something useful". The video attached to the post shows a handful of the changes in motion, including a few that never made it into the written blurb.
Verisium Ore: channel without getting deleted
The most-cheered change is also the simplest: while channelling Verisium Ore you can no longer be damaged or stunned. Anyone who has farmed the Kingsmarch mine knows the pattern — channelling a node pinned you in place with the bar half-full and a pack closing in, and a single stun cancelled the whole thing a beat before it finished. It's a safe interaction now, and that alone rewrites the rhythm of the mechanic.
A crafting bench in every town
The second big swing targets the hideout round trip: there's now a Crafting Bench in every town from Act 2 onward. It sounds minor until you count how many times per campaign you portalled home just to slap a resistance or a life roll onto a fresh drop. In the same spirit, Isla in Kingsmarch, Niko in the Mine Encampment and Einhar in the Menagerie can all identify items now, so you're no longer hunting for the one NPC who can.
The Animate Guardian stops being a black box
Summoner players get their prize: the Animate Guardian gets a dedicated inventory window, opened by right-clicking the minion's icon to see exactly what it's wearing. Until now, knowing which pieces your guardian was carrying was an exercise in memory and faith — and losing it meant rebuilding the set blind. It's the kind of interface fix that changes no numbers at all, but absolutely changes how many people are willing to touch the archetype.
The small stuff you feel every single map
Underneath the headlines sits a layer of fixes that add up faster than they read. Catalysts now stack to 20 (up from 10), which frees real estate in the stash. After finishing a Ritual altar, locusts point the way to the next one. In Sanctum, flask charges refill when you interact with the map between rooms. And maybe the most interesting one long-term: the keywording and popup-pinning system from Path of Exile 2 comes over, letting you inspect in-game terms and actually learn what they do without opening a wiki tab.
When it lands, and what comes with it
Curse of the Allflame is Path of Exile 1's 3.29 expansion, launching July 24 at 1 PM PDT on PC, Mac and consoles, free as always. These improvements are just the housekeeping half of the patch: the league itself drags exiles to the ocean floor, with Allflame-fuelled lanterns carving out pockets of air, nautical charts that combine into larger expeditions, and passes over beloved mechanics like Abyss and Legion.
A studio spending an entire announcement on quality of life four days out from launch says something about where the conversation with its community sits. None of these changes will ever headline a trailer, but they're the ones you'll be grateful for at hour 200 of the league.
