Aion 2 explains its five-day head start: separate servers, a half-open market, and cross-world grouping

NCsoft has detailed how Aion 2's five-day head start works: dedicated servers for Founder's Pack owners, a local market from day one but no regional auction house yet, and cross-server dungeon queues shared with the launch servers.

Aion 2 arrives in September 2026 as a global, free-to-play launch — but not everyone gets in on the same day. Anyone who buys a Founder's Pack starts five days early, and NCsoft has now laid out exactly how that head start works. The details matter more than they might sound: they decide which server you land on, who you can play with, and what you can buy and sell during that first week. Massively OP broke down the official rundown.

Two waves of servers

Early access doesn't happen on the same worlds where everyone else starts. There will be two kinds of server: Early Access Servers, which open five days ahead and are reserved for Founder's Pack owners, and Launch Servers, which only come online when the game opens up free to everyone in September.

The interesting part is that the line between them isn't permanent. Players without a pack will still be able to join an early access server once the game is live, space permitting. And NCsoft says it will look at character transfers later on, after seeing how populations settle and where the congestion is. Translation: your day-one server choice matters, but it isn't a life sentence.

The market: local yes, cross-server no

This is the most deliberate call in the whole plan. Aion 2 has two layers of trading: the server market, where you buy and sell with people on your own world using Kina (the currency you earn by playing), and the cross-server market, which pools an entire region into one auction house.

The local market is live from day one of early access. The cross-server market is not: it won't be up during the head start, nor right at launch — it opens later. The reasoning is stated openly: keep five days of accumulated founder advantage from warping the economy of the launch servers the moment they open. It's a sensible brake, though it also means the economy stays fragmented for the first few weeks.

Worth keeping the context in mind: according to the monetization plan published in early July, access to the market and to the KinaQuna exchange (Quna being the premium currency) sits behind the optional $15-a-month subscription. So the auction house isn't only a question of which server you pick — it's also a question of whether you're subscribed.

Grouping, dungeons, and cross-world PvP

The isolation doesn't extend to group play, which is the good news if your friends skipped the pack. Players on early access servers and on launch servers can add each other as friends and queue together through cross-server dungeon and PvP matchmaking. Dungeon matching works region-wide, so your server stops being a wall between you and group content.

PvP comes with a caveat. During the head start, the Abyss matches only between early access servers, and once everyone is in, the system factors in server progress and PvP strength when pairing matchups. It's a clear attempt to stop five-day-old wings from landing directly on players who started on Tuesday.

What to weigh before deciding

If you're weighing the Founder's Pack, the real edge isn't exclusive content — it's five days of progression inside a deliberately walled garden. You'll get an early local market but no regional one; you'll be able to run dungeons with friends on launch servers, but you won't share an economy with them for a while. If your usual group isn't buying packs, all piling in at launch is still a perfectly healthy plan.

Pieces are still missing: NCsoft hasn't announced the exact September date, nor final pack pricing and contents. When they land, that date and the five days before it will be the practical fact everything else hangs on. Main source: Massively Overpowered, with extra market detail from Mein-MMO.
