Blade & Soul NEO fires up Reignited: the Warden and a boosted server land August 18

NCSOFT has dated Reignited, the update that adds the Warden class, a boosted server and Poharan's Dungeon with equalized gear. It arrives August 18 on Steam and PURPLE.

NCSOFT has announced Reignited, the most ambitious campaign Blade & Soul NEO has seen all year, and it comes with a hard date: August 18, launching simultaneously across regions on Steam and PURPLE, the company's own platform. The package is headlined by the Warden class, adds a boosted server aimed at players who want to catch up fast, and reworks progression — the exact area where NEO has been collecting complaints for months.

The Warden crosses over from the original Blade & Soul

The headline act is the Warden, the greatsword class that debuted in classic Blade & Soul and now gets retuned for NEO's slower rhythm. Its hook is a two-stance system tied to your elemental choice: the frost path revolves around Sentry Stance, defensive, built to hold the line and shield the party; the lightning path leans on Frenzy Stance, trading survivability for speed and raw damage. In other words, one class that can tank or deal damage depending on how you build it — and in NEO, where role distribution is far more rigid than in the modern game, that reshuffles how any group is put together.

The Warden fights with a greatsword, swapping between a defensive and an offensive stance depending on element.

A boosted server and Poharan's Dungeon

The other pillar of Reignited is a boosted server: an accelerated start so newcomers — or lapsed players coming back after months away — can reach group content without grinding through weeks of leveling. NCSOFT pitches it as a faster, cleaner experience, and it's the clearest sign that this campaign is built to win players back rather than just entertain the ones still logging in.

Alongside it comes Poharan's Dungeon, with a genuinely interesting twist: equalized gear. Everyone enters with the same stats, so what decides the run isn't how much you farmed but how well you play. Add a time attack mode and the door is open to competitive speedrunning — something NEO never had, and something that always grew its own scene in classic Blade & Soul.

Poharan's Dungeon equalizes everyone's gear and adds a time attack mode.

Less friction on the road up

Beyond the new toys, the update goes after the foundations: system changes, better in-game guides and skill improvements, and generally less friction along the growth path. These are the least flashy items in the package and probably the most important ones — the most repeated criticism of NEO since day one has been how coarse progression gets in the mid-game, that stretch where the game stops holding your hand and endgame is still a long way off.

Wrapped around all of it is a fairly familiar rewards loop: pre-registration prizes, mission rewards, a point-exchange system, digital goods and a Ruler of the Land collaboration — the martial-arts manhwa that shares a good chunk of the series' visual DNA. The fine print, including what each tier hands out and how long each event runs, is going up on the official game site.

Reignited combines a new class, an accelerated server and a participation-driven rewards loop.

What to watch for on August 18

Reignited arrives at a moment when NEO badly needed a jolt. NCSOFT's classic relaunch of the MMORPG opened to plenty of attention in early 2025 and has since coasted mostly on monthly patches, seasonal events and battle passes, with nothing that truly moved the needle. A new class, a server built for re-entry and a dungeon that rewards skill over gear is, on paper, the right prescription.

The usual question is whether the package can hold a population past the opening-weeks spike: a boosted server pulls people in, but what keeps them is whatever comes after. We won't know until September. For now, the date to circle is August 18.
