Where Winds Meet opens Heaven's Threshold on August 20, but the server has to unlock the road

The second part of the Hidden Mountain expansion arrives August 20 with a high-altitude region, two mechanical world bosses and two new skills. Access opens through a community building event.

Heaven's Threshold, the second part of Where Winds Meet's Hidden Mountain expansion, goes live on August 20 (UTC). Part one landed last month and left players settled into the mountain city; this chapter climbs the cliffs above it.

Access isn't immediate. The region unlocks through Cloudtop Ascent, a community building event that opens the map as players contribute to it. What waits on the other side is vertical exploration: long drops, fog and the ruins of old observatories. Everstone Studio didn't say how much participation it takes or how long the whole thing runs.

Two world bosses wait up there: Inkpincer Scorpion and Cloud-Seizing Serpent, iron hulks built by the mountain's old inventors. Both fights come down to timing, since their armor opens up at intervals and the exposed joints are the only thing worth hitting.

The update also adds two mystical skills. Bursting Nine is archery, firing nine arrows and slowing down groups. World to Sword turns healing power into flying energy blades. On the content side, the Evershift Labyrinth is an underground maze of rotating wooden gears, and the Reflection Temple is a solo survival mode with strict rules to follow, tied to China's Ghost Festival.

The story pushes an argument among the mountain's ancient craftspeople: stay hidden from the world, or put their engineering to work for people who need it. The game is free-to-play, and the chapter ships at once on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, iOS and Android.
