RuneScape: Dragonwilds 1.0 isn't the end: Jagex teases years of content

Mod Dutch confirmed the September 15 1.0 launch closes Kuldra's saga but opens a multi-year plan. The catch: there are still almost no concrete details.

Jagex wants one thing clear before RuneScape: Dragonwilds leaves early access: the September 15 1.0 is not the finish line, it's just another stop. In a message signed by Mod Dutch, the studio explained that the launch wraps up the story of Dragon Queen Kuldra, but that the plan for the game stretches out over several years.

1.0 concludes the Kuldra Saga: players head into the Scorned Wilderness raid and defeat her. The idea, according to Jagex, was that fans who had been holding off could experience the complete story from beginning to end right as the survival game set in the RuneScape franchise leaves early access.

1.0 closes Kuldra's saga with the Scorned Wilderness raid.

A multi-year voyage

True to the studio's ways —twenty-five years of continuous updates on Gielinor—, Jagex frames Dragonwilds as a project in permanent evolution. Kuldra's ending doesn't close Ashenfall, still hidden from the rest of Gielinor and described by the studio as the next frontier to build out. The promise is broad: more skills, quests, regions, bosses, enemies and rewards as this stretch of the Sixth Age advances.

That's where the concrete part ends. There are no dates, no roadmap, no first piece of post-launch content with a name attached: it all stays at the level of a statement of intent. Jagex says it will reveal more closer to launch, with the bulk of the details coming at Runefest, in October. Mod Dutch already previewed some of this during the Runefest 2026 preview stream, which you can watch on the official broadcast.

For anyone playing Dragonwilds, the signal is a good one: the studio has no plans to walk away after 1.0. But it's worth taking it for what it is —a statement of direction, not a schedule— and waiting until October to learn what that multi-year voyage really means.
