Last Epoch names and dates Season 5: 'Rage of the Frostborn' arrives October 1

Last Epoch's fifth season finally has a name and, more importantly, a date: Rage of the Frostborn launches on October 1, 2026. The announcement landed inside the studio's July newsletter, alongside an official teaser that lasts barely longer than a breath and closes with the date on screen.

Worth saying up front: the teaser shows no mechanics, no classes, no zones. It's a voice-over, a frozen palette and the title. All you can really read from it is tone: the Frostborn point to an icy enemy and biome as the season's thematic spine — something Eterra's lore has long established but has never carried a season on its own.

The newsletter itself pumps the brakes: Eleventh Hour Games said August goes entirely into getting the season ready, with the meaty details coming later. Translation: the real information drop is the September Eterra Monthly, just weeks out from launch.

This isn't a blind announcement, either. When the studio published its roadmap alongside Shattered Omens, the fourth season, it had already sketched what the fifth would bring: a seasonal mechanic with its own endgame boss, improvements to the item factions system, a new Paladin skill and a batch of new items. None of that was re-confirmed alongside the final name, so treat it as the best available map, not a patch-note list.

Here's the part that stirred the community. Shattered Omens shipped on March 26, 2026; October 1 is more than six months later. For an ARPG competing for the same weekend of attention as Path of Exile or Diablo, that pace hurts: a long season burns out well before the next one lands, and re-engagement cools off along with the population.

The team has acknowledged the problem, and its answer has been consistent: they hired through the past year — the studio became part of Krafton — and they maintain the cadence will improve. The proof of that isn't this season, though; it's the gap that comes after it.

The roadmap positions Rage of the Frostborn as the last step before the Orobyss expansion, the big event on Last Epoch's calendar: it closes the saga with two new campaign chapters, adds endgame and pinnacle bosses, a major skill-tree expansion, and structural Monolith changes via Corruption Tiers and Etched Timestones. It's also when the game lands on PS5.

With that on the horizon, Season 5 has a clear job: keep the player base warm while the expansion cooks. If the content delivers, a six-month gap gets forgiven fast. September's newsletter is where we'll find out; until then, the only firm thing is the date on the calendar.
