GunZ: The Duel is back on Steam, again

The 2003 Korean shooter reopened global service on Steam as a free remaster, and Masangsoft says the pay-to-win elements are gone. Player reviews, for now, sit at Mixed.
GunZ: The Duel returned to Steam on August 13 as a free remaster. The Korean shooter first launched in 2003, shut down its service in 2013, and has resurfaced more than once since; this time Masangsoft is running it as a global service on Steam.
The studio claims the new version recreates "100%" of the original's feel while adding updated visuals and UI. The real change is economic: a Masangsoft representative said there are no pay-to-win elements and no luck-based mechanics, gear is now purely cosmetic, and weapons were rebalanced by type and weight.
Everything else is the GunZ people remember. K-Style is intact: wall-running, dashes and aerial combos that chain sword and gunfire into one sequence. There's competitive PvP, co-op PvE with boss fights, tournaments, and character and weapon customization.
Around the launch there are Twitch Drops, Medal.tv integration for clipping matches, and a creator program called Ludenus Creators. The game runs kernel-level Easy Anti-Cheat and shipped in thirteen languages.
The reception started rough: Steam reviews stand at Mixed, with 397 positive out of 986, or 40%. Masangsoft has not published player numbers or a post-launch content schedule.
