Old School RuneScape launches Wyrmscraig, the island its community designed

Old School RuneScape launches Wyrmscraig, its community-designed island: a new quest, a repeatable boss that drops the Hallowfell greatsword, Slayer Master Mortimer and two fresh skilling activities. It's live now.
Old School RuneScape has opened the docks to Wyrmscraig, a brand-new island that went live today with an unusual origin: a player designed it. Gnome —also known as RoseNMcGeet, or ScreteMonge— won the Player-Designed Island competition Jagex ran back in December, and his concept is the one you can now explore across Gielinor. You'll need 62 Sailing to sail there; once unlocked, the island opens up a quest, a repeatable boss, a new Slayer Master and two skilling activities.
Fallen From Grace: the quest that unlocks the island
The entry point is Fallen From Grace, an Experienced-tier quest of short length. It kicks off in the village of Auchrie, rattled by a disappearance that has left the locals wary of outsiders; with one of their own still missing, they reluctantly turn to you for help. As you explore the island you uncover ancient secrets and the mystery of the Mad Angel. To start it you'll need 62 Sailing, 60 Crafting, 47 Runecraft and 53 Mining, then speak to Cormac in the middle of the village. Finishing it unlocks the repeatable boss and Sunstone Golem Crafting.

The Mad Angel and the Hallowfell greatsword
Once the quest is done you can head back to the Cathedral and take on the repeatable version of the boss you met during the story. It's built as a mid-level PvM encounter, a solid next step for players who have already earned their Fire Cape. The headline reward is Hallowfell, a two-handed sword that requires 75 Attack: every swing cleaves nearby enemies and hits up to two extra targets, and against three monsters it outperforms every other melee weapon currently in the game — a genuinely juicy upgrade for most account types. The boss also drops Boss Teleport Scrolls, Granite Dust and a new pet.
Mortimer, a Slayer Master that plays by different rules
Mortimer is a new high-level Slayer Master built around player choice. Instead of handing you a single task, he lets you pick between two (and, eventually, three). In exchange, his tasks are far more expensive to skip —100 Slayer points— and can't be reset through Turael; on top of that you only get two block slots at 120 points each. His list focuses on creatures with Superior variants, and as you complete tasks you unlock Mortifiers, effects that show up alongside your choices and add rewards. You reach him with 100 Combat and 70 Slayer, or simply 99 Slayer. Jagex laid out his design on their official blog and, following last week's feedback, roughly halved the tasks needed to unlock each Mortifier.
Goat Hunting and Golem Crafting: fresh skilling
Wyrmscraig adds two training methods. Goat Hunting is a Hunter activity for levels 60-80: you build a trapped pit and herd the island's goats into it with a cattleprod (or Telekinetic Grab and Dark Lure, if you'd rather give Magic a little utility). It drops Goat Horns, Goat Fur and the pet Mr McGroot. The other half is Sunstone Mining & Golem Crafting: you mine Sunstone —with a new Momentum mechanic that rewards continuous mining— and sculpt golems that you then clothe in Hunter furs, a Glassblowing alternative from 60 Crafting onward. That's where the Jeweller's Chisel comes from, improving your odds when cutting Opals, Jades and Topaz while doubling as a regular chisel.
Other changes and what's coming
The patch also brings a handful of tweaks: the NPC Contact spell has been renamed Astral Contact to sit better with the lore, every version of the Avernic Defender is now valued at a flat 600,000 GP (matching its repair cost), and the Teleport to Boat spell was added as a Sailing Skillcape perk. Wyrmscraig arrives with its own art competition —running 29 July to 13 August— with Bonds up for grabs. And it isn't the only thing stirring in the RuneScape universe: the modern MMORPG has kicked off daily reveals for its next league, which opens Monday, 10 August.

Wyrmscraig is, in the team's own words, proof of what happens when player creativity meets the sandbox that is Old School RuneScape. It's live now: all you need is the Sailing level and the will to weigh anchor.
