EverQuest II opens the Revelations of Malice beta and brings back Oceansfull

The Game Update 132 beta opens on August 11 with four classic dungeons in Fabled form, while the Oceansfull festival is already live with 13 new prizes and level 135 loot.
EverQuest II is stacking two pieces of news into the same week. First, Daybreak confirmed that the beta for Game Update 132: Revelations of Malice opens Tuesday, August 11 at noon PT and runs through August 24, with the live release landing on August 25. Second, the summer Oceansfull festival is already up and running as of today and stays through August 20. For an MMORPG that launched back in 2004, the calendar is still surprisingly busy.
Revelations of Malice: four familiar dungeons, Fabled edition
The core of GU132 is a trip back across the sea. The update returns players to Ossuary, Castle Highhold, Ssraeshza Temple and Zavith'loa — but not as they remember them. All four come back in their Fabled form: reworked, meaner, and with loot to match. It's the formula EverQuest II has been refining for years, and it still works: take geography the community already loves and raise the ceiling instead of inventing zones from scratch.
There's one important catch before getting excited: taking part in the Game Update requires owning the latest expansion, Rage of Cthurath. Without it, neither the beta nor the live content is available to you.
How to get into the beta
Access is open and there's no sign-up. Open the LaunchPad, click Version in the top-left corner, pick Beta from the dropdown and apply the patch — make sure you have roughly as much free space as the live client, since it's a separate install. Once you're in, the /beta command copies your character over to the test server, a process that can take up to an hour. The fine print lives in the official beta notice.
Two standard warnings: beta characters get wiped periodically, and nothing you do there carries over to your live account beyond claimed rewards. The server can also go dark during maintenance, which is par for the course in a two-week test window.
Oceansfull is live through August 20
Meanwhile, the ocean festival returned today to Antonica, Commonlands, Greater Faydark, Tranquil Sea, Eastern Wastes and Western Wastes, wrapping up on August 20 at 11:59 p.m. PT. The most visible addition this year is the Clam Shell Game, which now offers 33 items, with 13 brand-new prizes in the rotation.
The other half is Awuidor: Trench of Terrors, the scalable dungeon that takes adventure levels 1 through 135 and this year adds level 135 loot plus a new reward chance at every level, including the Essence of Ocean weapon aura. Inside you'll find the Ocean Madness, Deep Dive and Depth Charge exploration achievements. Above water, Mimmi is back at Nipik's Haven in the Eastern Wastes asking for help, and Taffil in Antonica hands out three themed Overseer quests; the full breakdown is on the festival page.
What to watch if you're coming back now
If you play on a special ruleset server, check the fine print: Wuoshi leaves out certain quests and collections, Kael Drakkel excludes one, and Varsoon runs the full event. Everything is active on live servers. Between Mithril Jubilation Medals, fishing lures and ocean collections, there's a solid two weeks of low-stress farming here.
The timing isn't an accident: a festival open to any level works as a doorway for lapsed players, while the beta gives the veteran crowd two weeks to pick apart the Fabled dungeons before August 25. Twenty-one years in, EverQuest II keeps running the same cycle it always has — seasonal event, public test, game update — and still finds an audience for it.
