Ereb's skills revealed: how Grand Chase Classic's newest character fights

KOG has shown off Ereb's skills and full skill tree ahead of the character's August 12 arrival in Grand Chase Classic: shield charges, ruin spikes and a signature mode you can now trigger manually.

Grand Chase Classic has followed up on its Ereb reveal — the character joining the roster on August 12 — and this time KOG got straight to the point: the job change, five skills in motion and a look at the full skill tree. If you missed who he is and where he comes from, we covered it in our first look at the character; here we go straight to what he does in a fight.

Typography teaser covering Ereb's concept and story.

Liminal Walker, the job change

Ereb's job change is called Liminal Walker, and it splits his abilities across three skill lines — KOG only showed skills from two of them for now. Everything on display revolves around the same two ideas: the shield as a heavy weapon, and ruin spikes as his ranged resource.

Line Breaker TYPE 1 is a 3-bar special: Ereb charges forward behind his shield and, after covering a set distance or hitting an enemy, the magic packed inside detonates in a frontal blast. Severing Strike TYPE 2, at 1 bar, is his cheap tool: he summons a spike of ruin and fires it forward, and it splits once it has travelled far enough or connects.

The rest paints a pretty clear profile. Rampart Sanctuary TYPE 1 (2 bars) raises a shield that protects allies and grants them extra HP while it holds, so there's genuine support in the kit. Domain Expansion TYPE 1 (3 bars) summons ruin spikes that trail behind him and attack anything that wanders close on their own. And Ground Crash, at 4 bars, is the big button: he gathers energy into the shield, leaps and slams down for heavy area damage.

18 actives and a tree you can actually tinker with

Preview of Ereb's active skill tree.

KOG also let the whole tree show, icons visible and unexplained — guessing what they do is half the fun. There are 18 active skills in total, and several of them come in TYPE 1 and TYPE 2 flavours: two distinct takes on the same skill that you'll have to pick between.

The passive page is the interesting one: that's where you expand your shield commands and follow-up actions using the X key, and where you can customise both those follow-ups and the activation keys while in the Ruin Blade state. The detail that will matter most in play: by default Ruin Blade fires off automatically the moment its gauge fills, but the tree lets you switch it to manual activation so you can trigger it on your own timing.

What's up for grabs on August 12

The update kicks off a login event running from August 12 (after maintenance) through September 23 (UTC+0), detailed on the official event page. Logging in during that window mails you an Another TYPE1+ Coordi Outfit Box, an Ereb Mini Doll Select Box, an Ereb Growth Support Box and 30 Seal Breaker Scrolls. Mind the clock: the mail expires after 21 days. There's also a coupon, NEWROADMAP0814, worth 10 Seal Breaker Scrolls and redeemable up until the August 12 maintenance (KST).

KOG notes that everything shown is still in development and may change before launch, so the bar costs and skill types are today's snapshot rather than the final word. Even so, the read for existing players is fairly clear: Ereb is shaping up as a frontliner who absorbs punishment, shields the party and punishes with area damage, with Ruin Blade as his skill-ceiling decision. In two weeks we'll see whether the shield hits as hard as it promises.
