Stars Reach shuts down its playtest servers and goes dark until August 18

Playable Worlds has closed the Stars Reach playtest servers for good to prepare the August 18 early access launch, warning that the debut build is only a first step.
Playable Worlds has closed the Stars Reach playtest servers for the last time. The studio confirmed it on Steam on August 12: the game stays offline until August 18, the date it locked in back in July for its paid early access, with $30, $50 and $80 packages.
The team calls what ships that day "our first step", and says big updates are already planned for the opening stretch of early access, without naming any or dating them. For specifics it points to the living roadmap on the official site, which the studio itself frames as a map of intentions rather than a list of commitments.
The build it launches with is the one testers spent the past two weeks in: Calm Before the Storm, released August 4, which rebuilt crafting, swapped in a new loot system and reworked much of the interface. No major patch followed it.
The announcement gives no server-opening time for the 18th and says nothing about what happens to progress made during testing. Playable Worlds only thanks the people who played the playtest, crediting their feedback for how the game changed.
