Valheim leaves early access on September 9: new price, old saves, new consoles

Iron Gate says the 1.0 release is still on track and published an FAQ covering what changes: a $29.99 price, old saves that still work with caveats, and a same-day launch on PS5, Xbox and Switch 2.
Iron Gate confirmed that Valheim's exit from early access is still on schedule: 1.0 lands on September 9. The studio says it's squashing the last bugs, and in the meantime it has published a 1.0 FAQ answering the questions it kept getting.
The first change is the price: with 1.0 the game moves to $29.99, with the usual regional differences. Old saves stay right where you left them and you can keep playing them, but biome generation only works properly in areas you haven't explored yet, so the Deep North shows up whole only on untouched map.
Hence the advice to start a fresh run, though the FAQ also covers players who want to reach the north with the character they already have. The same day, the game arrives on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2, with crossplay across all of them. There's no official mod support on any platform, so PC mod compatibility isn't guaranteed.
Next week Iron Gate will be at Gamescom in Cologne, with a booth in hall 10. Another trailer premieres during the event; all the studio would say is that some familiar faces show up.
Early access also takes the Build of the Month segment with it, the slot where the studio spent years showing off community builds. Iron Gate says it will keep asking for builds on social media, just without a fixed format. As for what follows September 9, it talks about bugfixes and quality-of-life work; on new content, it promises nothing.
