Project Gorgon adds Situational Awareness, daily rewards and a big animal glow-up

Elder Game's new patch brings a skill to spot enemies on the minimap, a daily login rewards system and fresh models for much of the game's wildlife. Heads up: it needs an almost-full redownload, but leaves the game 10 GB lighter.

Project Gorgon, Elder Game's cult-favorite MMORPG that turned "let's see what happens if I touch this" into a religion, just got one of those updates that pokes at a bit of everything. The July 30, 2026 patch answers a long-standing community request with a skill so you never eat another ambush, launches a daily login rewards system and gives a visual pass to much of its wildlife. The catch: you'll have to redownload almost the whole game.

Situational Awareness: no more looking over your shoulder

The headliner is a new skill called Situational Awareness. Toggle it as a sidebar ability and your minimap (and full map) starts showing dots for nearby enemies, so nothing sneaks up on you from behind anymore. It isn't free: while it's active you can't benefit from speed buffs, a tradeoff meant to keep it from being the answer to everything. Its range scales with the skill and reaches an 80-meter radius at level 100. You learn it from Jake the Buckler in Sun Vale, at Comfortable favor, for 10,000 Councils.

The world of Project Gorgon, now a little less dangerous behind your back.

It isn't the only addition to the skill list: the patch also adds Magical Roasting, a skill the developers themselves describe as decidedly niche. It's exactly the kind of oddity you'd expect from this game.

Daily login rewards, as an experiment

Another direct answer to community requests: there are now daily rewards just for logging in. The system starts with newbie items and ramps up over the days to be worth 1,000-2,000 Councils a day at the higher tiers, with titles handed out on certain days. Titles aren't transferable, but items can be moved between characters via the transfer-chest. Elder Game is openly launching it as an experiment: depending on the feedback, it'll decide whether it stays.

Reworked wildlife and a huge download (that shrinks everything later)

On the visual side, the patch brings new models for much of the wildlife: bears, wild pigs, panthers, tigers, bulls, sheep, rhinos and hippos have all been reworked, and the player-form fox revamp is on the way. The cost is awkward but sensible: the update requires an almost-complete redownload of the game. The upside is that, once it's done, the game takes up roughly 10 GB less and lays the groundwork for smaller patches down the line. If you saw Steam pulling down Project Gorgon from scratch, this is why: it's working as intended.

The game's animals get new models, with more revamps on the way.

Taken together, it's a solid, dense patch for an MMORPG that survives more on identity than on budget: a skill that fixes a real annoyance, a reason to come back every day, and a technical cleanup that — at the price of one bad download — leaves the game lighter. None of this plays itself in Project Gorgon, so your best move is to hop in and try Situational Awareness before the next remodeled critter catches you off guard.
