Dune: Awakening confirms cross-play and a DLC made of Villeneuve's film looks

At Gamescom, Funcom announced the Filmic Archive DLC, out September 22 for $9.99 with outfits pulled from Denis Villeneuve's films, and confirmed cross-play is coming after the console launch, with no date attached yet.

Funcom came to Gamescom with two announcements for Dune: Awakening: a cosmetic DLC inspired by Denis Villeneuve's films, Filmic Archive, out September 22, and confirmation that the game will get cross-play after its console launch.

September 22 was already circled on the calendar: it's the day of the single-player patch currently being tested on the PTC and the day the game lands on Xbox and PlayStation 5. The story's conclusion, expanded customization and scalable difficulty all arrive with it.

Filmic Archive costs $9.99 and pulls its looks from Dune: Part One and Dune: Part Two. It includes the Aegis of the Unwalked Path armor, taken from Paul Atreides' visions of Fremen holy warriors, and the Caladan Stormcoat worn by Paul and Duke Leto. Rounding it out is a 73-piece Sardaukar building set for your base.

Cross-play is the bigger announcement and also the vaguer one. Funcom confirmed it's coming, said there's no release date yet, and promised details as development moves along. The stated goal is to keep Arrakis alliances and rivalries from being split along platform lines.

The DLC's reveal trailer premieres today, August 27, during the Xbox Gamescom broadcast, which starts at 4 PM CEST. The Filmic Archive page on Steam goes live once the trailer is out.
