Warframe Powers Up Amir's Shockwave: the 1999 Nightwave Lands August 12

Warframe Powers Up Amir's Shockwave: the 1999 Nightwave Lands August 12

The new Nightwave season kicks off on August 12 with a Warframe: 1999 look, fresh rewards and a side story where your Tenno swaps the rifle for a fantasy tabletop session.

In Warframe you spend your hours playing a Void-touched soldier piloting cybernetic space ninjas through corridors packed with monstrous enemies. Starting August 12, 2026, that same soldier is going to start pretending to be a fantasy adventurer: Amir's Shockwave, the new Nightwave season, goes live that day across all platforms as part of a free update.

Amir's Shockwave brings the Warframe: 1999 aesthetic to the new run of Nightwave.

Amir takes the mic

This time the radio host is Amir, the hacker from the Hex crew, and the whole thing leans into past and future colliding: a season with the '80s-'90s vibe inherited from the Warframe: 1999 arc. Being a mini-series, it's expected to run shorter than a full Nightwave, but it arrives loaded with new rewards to redeem with the standing you rack up.

Among the confirmed rewards there's a solid handful of themed cosmetics: the Globakk Syandana, the Kaneshell Atomicycle Regalia, the Teisatz Oculus, an Atomicycle Key Sugatra and a set of Fables & Frontiers glyphs for each Hex member. Items from Nora's Mix Vol. 8 also return, so anyone who missed them gets a second shot. The finer details of the list will be revealed closer to launch.

Fables & Frontiers: Running Late, or when the Tenno grabs the dice

The juiciest bit lives outside the season itself. On that same August 12 comes Fables & Frontiers: Running Late, a roughly six-day KIM mini-story that sticks around permanently. It opens a new room in the Höllvania Central Mall where Amir walks you through a bite-sized take on Fables & Frontiers, the in-universe tabletop RPG from Warframe: 1999. That's the joke about "pretending to be a fantasy adventurer": your Void operative sits down to a tabletop session without ever quite putting the guns away.

What you need to jump in

To unlock the KIM content and redeem rewards with Hex standing you need some progress under your belt: finishing The Hex quest finale, reaching Rank 5 with The Hex syndicate and hitting the "Close" bond (Rank 5) with Amir. In other words, this is aimed at players already deep into the 1999 arc rather than an entry point for newcomers.

The Warframe: 1999 arc keeps adding layers for the more advanced Tenno.

With Digital Extremes keeping up its usual cadence of free content, Amir's Shockwave is one of those comfortable reasons to come back: fresh rewards, a charming narrative excuse and nothing to pay. All the details, exact times and the full prize list are in the official Warframe announcement.
