Spirit Crossing sets its price: $29.99 up front, plus a membership you can skip

Spry Fox has settled the money question for its cozy MMO: $29.99 up front on Steam, a 20% launch discount, and an optional membership for nice-to-have extras, decided after a round of community feedback.

Spry Fox has closed the question that had been hanging over Spirit Crossing: its cozy life-sim MMO will cost $29.99 on Steam, with regional pricing and a 20% launch discount. That's a one-time purchase with no mandatory subscription, and an optional membership sitting on top of it for nice-to-have features.

The number came out of an open consultation. The studio posted a blog laying out its membership idea and then ran a Reddit AMA; by its own account, most of the responses were supportive. Only the perks that drew no pushback made the cut, though the studio hasn't published the exact list of what the membership contains.

In its official FAQ, Spry Fox notes that nothing in the game costs real money today, and that it will eventually sell light in-game items with a promise that buying stays a bonus rather than a toll. The reason it gives is the cost of running an MMO: roughly $30,000 a month in server bills during alpha and beta, on top of dozens of employees and contractors.

Spirit Crossing is already playable on mobile through Netflix Games, in beta and behind that platform's subscription, while the PC version still carries a 2026 window with no firm date. Progress doesn't carry across: anyone playing on their phone right now starts from scratch on Steam.
